The Motivation of the Las Vegas Shooter

Unfortunately Stephen Paddock is not that different from other American shooters. I just finished a first draft of a book, Shots Fired in Terminal 2 about the Ft Lauderdale airport shooting that I had the bad luck to be in. I studied twenty mass shootings in America and I looked for common factors in the shooters. This is what I found. They were male. Ninety nine percent white. Young adult to middle age. Middle class. And they had access to high powered weapons. And they were all insane to some degree. And their stated reasons for murdering people was not really important.

It is the pissed off white male syndrome. That is what I called it though I never put it in the book. From Sandy Hook to Columbine the psychopath was there waiting. The paranoid schizophrenic, the PTSD vet hearing voices telling him to kill, the manic depressive, the truly insane killer of children and the killer of people watching movies all are cousins of the severely mentally ill. By the time I was finished I realized there were two things that could be done to limit these shootings. One was to get rid of access to semiautomatic weapons and the other is to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill.

If we did these two things and nothing else we would see a result. People who shoot people enmasse are insane. They just are. There is no rational. There is no motive. I saw it in every shooting that I studied. The men who committed these acts were simply nuts and it is not about the second amendment or handgun laws. What happens is the insane individual decides to kill people and they know that the best gun to do this is a semiautomatic. That is where it stops.

Stephen Paddock just joined the white men's club of mass killers who have no motivation. Insane people don't need one.

How Stupid Are We?

I really didn't  get it. I mean why would you really want some monster gun to hunt a deer. It's like minting a trillion dollar coin and putting it in the US mint. Makes no sense right? Why does the NRA really care if you can tear a fifty five gallon drum in two with your Uzi. But then you start to look at at in a different way. You don't  have to go far. Just put your ear to the ground and listen to the buzz. Wayne LaPierre and the boys want these guns to fight the government. Huh. So you mean that we should let them keep these guns so when the shit goes down they will have the necessary firepower? Exactly. Duh.

So that means  he NRA is a front much like the IRA. They are a front for all these shadowy organization who want to have as much firepower as possible? Which means they are really a seditious organization hiding under the Second Amendment. How conspiratorial. How bizarre. How Jesse Ventura. And yet we are left with this odd situation of a bunch of people who really want to keep military assault weapons. Lets look at our history.

Right to bear arms. Right to revolution. But of course we don't want to plant the seeds of our destruction. We sure didn't let the Japanese or the Germans have guns. Nope. That was against the law. But these "Patriots" are just fine. Sure. Give them as much ammo and guns as they need to you know fight the United States. Land of the free. Land of the extremists. Just watch a couple YouTube videos and you will see what is really going on.

So we are back to where we started. If the stated reason people want to have these assault weapons is to fight the government  then you cant blame the government for being a little nervous about giving them the weapons. I mean how stupid do some people think we are? Looking across the current landscape of three hundred million guns....

Pretty stupid.

The NRA versus Parents

If you are a parent the NRA is not your friend. You may have an arsenal in your basement. You may have a tank or a bazooka. But the NRA is not your friend. They are your enemy. They do not care about the Second Amendment. They care about money. Your job is to protect your kids. The NRA does not care about your kids. They care about the money. They get money from the gun manufacturers. That is who they care about.

The NRA does not care that your child sits in a classroom.  They don't care that the Assault weapon used in Sandy Hook literally blew away half of the skulls of those children. They don't care they were shot eleven times. They don't care that another person right now might be planning the same thing. They don't care about anything but the guns. They believe it is their right to own a weapon over your right to protect your children. It is that simple.

They do not want to stop assault weapons. They do not care that a gun that can fire a hundred bullets a minute killed twenty small children. They don't care that the gun used in Sandy Hook cut small children in two. They don't care that the gun blew the adults away like manikins thrown against a wall. They don't care that someone else will do it again. They don't care about your kids. They never will. They care about the money.

The NRA is against parents everywhere. They are a danger to our children. They are a danger to society. They are death mongers. They don't care about the parents who lost their kids. They don't care about the children who lost their lives. They don't care about your right to bear arms. They care about money. They care about guns. They are not humans. They certainly are not parents. Parents protect their children

They are the enemy.

Our Blood Soaked Movies are killing us

Went to see Drango, Tarrentinos new film. Before the film I was shot a thousand times. I was blown up. I was thrown out of windows, run over by cars, sprayed with automatic weapon fire by Schwarzenegger, Penn, and Willis. The mayhem continued for thirty minutes before the film. Then Drango began and I was immersed in blood for two and half hours. I was shot countless times again and hung and burned and branded and blown up and burned and chained, dragged, imprisoned, and raped and then shot all over again. At the end of my movie experience I had been exposed to over a hundred acts of violence with ninety percent of them using guns. Is it any wonder we are awash in blood in our society?

And you can say art and blah blah blah. But to quote Fitzgerald. "All cheap entertainment is immoral, it is heroin of the soul." Our heroin has destroyed the fabric of our society. We are the product of years and years and years of violence piped into our homes and theatres. We come out of theatres soaked in blood. The cop in the lobby of the theatre with the nine millimeter on her hip is the full circle of that violence. And clearly Tarentinos joke is on us. Or is he part of the problem. By pointing the camera at our violent society is he not part of it? Is there any difference from the Bruce Willis character and John Holmes? One just happened to come off the screen.

And it will happen again. We have used our freedoms like a junkie and we buy all the cheap smack we can get out hands on and now we are dying because of it. Every day. By characters with guns who are killing us one by one. They have finally morphed into our reality and humans simply ape what they see. It is the basis of advertising. And what we see is the horror every single day and it is not on the screen. It is the horror we export.

Coming for us.

Make Assault Weapons part of a Terrorist Act

Look we all know an assault weapons ban is DOA. Congress will not let it pass. Make that the NRA wont let it pass and we all know they represent the will of the people. So instead of going through that tired exercise that will result in a watered down  bill that will mean nothing, lets cut to the chase and get assault weapons classified as a weapon of terrorism. We already interpret threats and bombs and plans to kill people  as acts of terrorism. Is this really such a leap?

First of all assault weapons are a terrorist dream. They kill in large numbers. Look at Sandy Hook. If killing children is not an act of terrorism then I don't know what is. Of course it is. It goes to who we are. Terrorists know this. And so we had a brutal act of terrorism committed with a brutal weapon of terrorism. An automatic weapon designed to fire so fast that people are not hit with just a few bullets but upwards of ten or eleven. It is a killing machine.

And if terror is our criteria then go back and look at Aurora movie theatre shooting. Listen to the testimony of the officers on the scenes. The one cop driving with blood sloshing around in the back of his car. The first responders to Sandy Hook who will never ever be the same. They have been terrorized as much as anyone who was at Ground Zero. Killing in large numbers is an act of terrorism. It has always been an act of terrorism. So logically you have to make it illegal to own the tools of the trade.

Again. The exercise in congress is futile. We know this. The NRA will block anything. We are not the NRA. The American people deserve to be protected from assault weapons. They deserve to be protected from Terrorists. Ergo. Make the owning and the use of  assault weapons an act of terrorism.

What is a gun?

A gun is an instrument of death. That is all a gun is. It was produced to kill humans. Maybe animals too. Death. Human. Animal. Death. A gun is anti human. Humans are humane. Guns are death. Guns have always been death. We are about life. All the time. We fight to stay alive. Guns kill people all the time. They never stop and give life. A gun is a death machine. There is no other way to see it. People do not kill people. Guns kill people. People were not designed to kill people. Guns are. Always have been.

Why is it so hard to stop a gun? A gun shoots a bullet. It does not protect us. A gun kills us. A gun will always kill us. A gun does not equal freedom. It never has. A gun is a freedom killer. It destroys your freedom because it takes your life. A gun always takes freedom. A gun takes liberty. A gun has nothing to do with liberty except to destroy it. What more could you do to someones liberty than kill them?

A gun takes away our rights. It takes away our Second Amendment. A gun kills our right to bear arms. A dead man bears nothing. A dead man is just dead. A gun was manufactured to kill us. A gun is always manufactured to kill us. A gun has no other purpose. Guns have always killed people. We have no rights against a gun. Nada. Nothing. The gun takes away all rights. Dead men have no rights. Dead men have nothing.

A gun doesn't care about the NRA. A gun doesn't care about watering the tree of liberty. Guns don't think about anything. The gun is only here to kill. There is nothing more true than this. It does not matter what type of gun it is . A gun is designed to kill you, your children, your husband, your wife, your mother, your father. That is what guns do. Just ask anyone who has been shot. Ask anyone who has lost a loved one to a gun. They know what a gun is. If you say a gun is anything more than a death machine you are a liar. A gun is death. Period.

So why would you ever want a gun?

When the Revolution Begins...

A doctor I know said he is going to buy the Bushmaster faux AR15. He said that he is buying it for when the revolution begins. When I pressed him for further details he said that the revolution could begin anytime. I asked who would be behind the revolution. He didn't answer and didn't say anything more, but I have heard this many times. We are stockpiling for when the revolution begins. We are getting ready for the revolution. The three hundred increase in firearm purchases since Obama became President is surely in preparation for when the revolution begins.

And there is nothing more you can say. The revolution. This is a word batted around in the hinterlands of America to describe the takeover of the US by Obamian forces composted of blacks, gays, Muslims, urbanites, liberals, the UN, Obamacare enthusiasts, atheists, just about anyone who is not white and probably rural. The when the revolution begins folks are arming for a vague Armageddon where blood will flow in he streets and the screaming forty seven percent will come for their due.

And what else was Romneys famous forty seven percent speech but a clarion call against the revolutionaries who are sucking away the lifeblood of  America. His singling out of half the population and  clearly drawing a line in the sand against the menacing hoards who can not be reformed into the American mainstream. Only the real Americans deserve to be represented and the rest need be to watched...preferably with a Bushmaster.

And this is the great paranoia behind the gun debate. The people who see their guns as being ready for the Obamian rabble who will come and take all they have worked for. Or even a military uprising where gun toting Americans will have to defend home and hearth against an evil Socializing Big Brother government. And so the good doctor will get his gun. He can certainly afford the twenty five hundred dollars. And he will be ready.

When the revolution begins....

Include Assault Weapons Under the Terrorist Act

There was a strategy in WWII called island hopping. Basically the Japanese occupied many islands across the Pacific and the United States saw it would take months to take every island on their way to Japan so they decided to just go around the islands. To leave the Japanese in place and go after the main target which was Japan. That is what we have to do now. We have to go around the islands and forget about negotiating with the blood soaked stooges of the NRA and pass an  executive order. That order would include assault weapons under the Terrorist Act.

Assault Weapons are weapons of terror. That is what they were designed for. Killing on the scale these weapons perform on is terrorism. Killing multiple adults is terrorism. Killing children is an  act of terrorism. Killing people in movies theatres is an act of terrorism. Killing people at political events is an act of terrorism. Automatic weapons are the tools of terrorists. They are designed to murder humans as fast as possible. They are the modern terrorists weapons of choice. No different than a bomb or a man with a box cutter.

For what is more of an act of terrorism than killing our children. There can be nothing more that strikes fear and terror into the hearts of Americans. We have outlawed carrying weapons on planes because they are interpreted as possible tools of terrorists. Certainly the only difference for assault weapons is they are not on a plane but are in our schools and theatres our churches our political venues.

So lets side step the islands of the NRA. Four million members don't compare to the three hundred and fifty million other people. We are being governed by a minority that is making  the gun industry rich. The President should declare all assault weapons as tools of terrorism. And we can then go after the real target of getting rid of guns.

The Founding Fathers Did Us No Favors on Guns

By connecting guns to freedom we have created a monster three hundred years later that is eclipsing the world in the sheer amount of guns and our incredible murder rate. There is no one even close to us and why is this? Because the right to bear arms was written right next to the right of free speech, liberty, freedom of assembly, the right to a fair trial and a host  of other rights Americans hold near and dear. And by osmosis the right to own a gun is now equated with the right to freedom. And they are not the same.

But this is the entanglement of ideas that we now deal with. The right to bear arms was very important with an occupying force like the British. We know why the founding fathers wrote this amendment and why it was second. You backed up your freedom with arms. But the two are not the same and we have no occupying army and a government that safeguards our freedoms. And if you really believe you need a gun to fight the government then you are very delusional.  A gun will not help you in that fight.

But the problem is there is no division for  most gun owners. It is not merely a right to own a gun. It is a right to freedom and this is where it gets weird. Deadly force insures no freedom. In fact, it could very well take away your freedom. Just ask the two men on trial in Florida for shooting young black males under the Stand Your Ground law. But most people see a gun as freedom and this is why it is impossible to have a rational debate over guns.

I hate to say it, but it is a little like getting rid of slavery. We are that far apart.

The NRA's Wild West of America

We hoped. Come on we did. We thought the NRA might have a come to Jesus moment and say enough is enough and lets get these assault weapons off the streets. It was a fantasy but it seemed there might be some daylight out of the darkness of the horrific carnage in New Town. But Wayne and the boys quickly dashed our hopes with their heartfelt solution: lock and load. Everyone should now be armed. The teachers. Us. Security Guards. Because the nuts out there are out of hand and we have to stop the bad guys.

Now we come from a history of this in our Western Frontier. Before there was any law in the territories people had to take the law into their own hands. Many people were armed and this bore out the legend of the Wild West where people shot each other at will and everyone had a six shooter on their hip and the sound of DRAW resonated through dusty towns out on the Prairie. The Frontier was declared closed in 1900 and that mythical world faded into movies and dime store novels. But now we have the NRA saying that the Wild West is our society now.

And the best they can offer is a training program for teachers and anyone else who wants to meet someone with an AR15 with an AR 15. Right. Where is Wyatt Earp when you need him? The problem is Wayne does not realize the country has changed, the frontier has closed, and we are no longer cowboys. We are a polymorphous people who live in urban centers primarily and have to get along. We just don't have enough room for everyone to have a six shooter anymore.  Look at Florida and Stand Your Ground. Already two young men are dead under questionable circumstances. But the NRA sees no complicity. They see no need to give up their precious right to have a Semi Automatic rifle. No need to curb any ones right to buy a gun at Walmart, Sportmart, or K Mart.

So it looks like we are going to have to do this without them. Surprise. Surprise. Still, there was a moment. A glimmer of hope that maybe the safety of children might bump aside their precious right to tear apart a fifty five gallon steel drum with an automatic weapon. But that probably belongs to the fantabulists and novelists  who created worlds like the Wild West.

A mythical world now far far away.

The Cowards Are Hiding

Funny how the pro gun Senators won't take calls. Funny how they wont be interviewed. Funny how not a peep out of the NRA. Could it be they are ashamed? Could it be Eric Cantor and Mitch McConnell are having second thoughts now that twenty tiny souls have been thrown into darkness? Or do men who do the bidding of the gun manufacturers and the NRA have no soul? We don't really know, but they are not talking. They are hiding like cowards.

And why shouldn't they? The unspeakable has happened and they all have blood on their hands. There is no justification for the worst case scenario. There is no higher moral calling for pushing assault weapons for the sake of a buck. Those lobbyist who haunt the halls of congress for the gun lobby are not about the right to bear arms. They are about the right to make a buck. Ideology pales to the gnashing greed of capitalism.

And so our children pay the price. Yours. Mine. Because while they sit in school some sick bastard can pull up with an AR15 and shoot his way into the school and murder at will. No teachers can stop someone armed with high capacity weapons designed for war. And the worst case  unfolds and the people who push the devils work are saying nothing. Nothing. They are in their darkness. Blood all over their hands for the sake of a buck.

They should hide.

Muzzling Bob Costas

It took a sports commentator to say what everyone knows. The entire country is being held by gun owners and their mouthpiece the NRA. We get shot now in theatres, schools, driving to work, walking down the street, at political events, in parks, in concerts, at work, at home, in cars, on athletic fields, in our bedrooms, in the woods. No where is safe. And no one says a word. People get mowed down in a theatre and no one says a word. People get mowed down at a college and no one says a word. People get mowed down in offices and classrooms and no one speaks. Why? Because the NRA has muzzled the people of the United States and now they are trying to do it to Bob Costas.

Mike Huckabee and Herman Cain are leading the charge. That should give you a clue to the righteousness of their cause. Not. And it took an NFL player shooting his girlfriend and himself to let the cat out of the bag and maybe it was because it was during macho hour that people are so incensed. Guns. Pickups. Football. They all go together in ratings land. And Costas violated the code. Thou shall not say anything about guns. It doesn't matter how many people get killed, thou shall not speak badly of the second amendment.

But non gun owners have rights. Citizens have rights. We can not be held hostage because other people think it is their God given right to shoot other people. The frontier is over. We are not going to be occupied. And to say people need guns to protect them from the government....you will be vaporized by a drone or an air strike before you even chamber up. No it is choice gone bad. One peoples prerogative over another. The gun owners of American and their watchdog have violated our rights. Screw the second amendment. How about about a new amendment calling for the rights of the unarmed not to be shot down.

Thou shall not be threatened in public places by an armed populace. Thou shall have liberty without fear. Thou shall be able to go to school without fear of being shot. To a movie without fear of being shot. Thou shall be able to go to a political event, work, college, drive, without fear of being shot. That should do it. Take out the second amendment and put that one in place of it. Call it Second Amendment2B.

The right to not get shot in ones own country.

The Gun Owners Hold Us Hostage

Yeah ok. NRA. I get it. They protect the Second Amendment and all that so I can have a bazooka if somebody crosses my yard or if someone comes into the gated community I am in right now in Florida much like the one Trayvon Williams passed through and some vigilante nut ball can trail me and if he decides I look the wrong way can send me to my maker ala Mr. 357. I get it. But here is my question. Why don't we non gun owners have an organization for our rights? After Trayvon Williams man we need one and we need it now.

The NRA is and has been the bully on the block. Everyone is afraid of these people and why? Because they are ARMED! You sure don't hear the President taking them on. Can you blame him? With enough nut jobs with guns to fill a state would you want to tell them you are taking their guns? And how about all our school shootings? We pride ourselves on putting our children first. Yeah. Right. If we did we would start an all out campaign to get the guns. Yeah we would take on the Second Amendment and all the twisted logic that says someone can purchase a Glock or an automatic weapon and go shoot kids.

But no one says a word. No one wants to take on the NRA. So I say lets form the NGOA. Non Gun Owners Association to stick up for us. We need it now. With Stand Your Ground laws in many states we are all just sitting ducks for dudes looking for a little moving target practice. Hunting humans is the greatest high after all...just ask Zimmerman.
